Norman Chan
Director & CEO
Mr. Norman Chan is a film producer, director, and screenwriter. Currently, he serves as a Associate Director in the Film Academy at Hong Kong Baptist University, Norman pursued a degree in Film and Television at the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts. He returned to Hong Kong and embarked on his career in the film industry after graduation.
In 1980, he began producing films and soon became involved in several prominent works during the New Wave era. He then joined D&B Films in 1986, where he quickly rose to the position of production manager. Utilizing computer systems, he efficiently managed production budgets and ensured financial transparency. His role expanded in 1988 when he became the executive and production director, overseeing production aspects for numerous films.
With a long-standing focus on producing, Mr. Norman Chan co-founded the Hong Kong Film Producers Association in 1990, advocating for the rights and well-being of industry professionals. He also served as a member of the Hong Kong Film Association Committee from 1992 to 1993.
In 2008, he directed the drama film "12:58", a Mainland Chinese production co-directed with Siu Wing-Hang. The film, based on the inspiring life story of Hong Kong disabled athlete So Wah-wai, received the Special Award from the Shanghai International Film Festival Film Channel Media Awards Committee.
